He held no lands, tenements, reversions, or services or the king in chief, but long before his death he was seised of the following in demesne as of fee. By charter shown to the jurors he granted the same – described as all his lands, tenements, rents, services and reversions in Great Sampford, Little Sampford, ‘Great’ Radwinter, ‘Little’ Radwinter, Finchingfield, Ashdon, Bartlow End, Stevington End, Helion Bumpstead, Steeple Bumpstead, and Hempstead – to John Plomere, vicar of Great or Little Sampford, William Stevenes, clerk , and John Joude , and their heirs and assigns. By virtue of this grant they were seised in demesne as of fee. Whether the undermentioned Agnes attorned herself to them by virtue of this grant the jurors do not know. John, William, and John, by indented charter shown to the jurors, granted the above – described as all the lands, etc., they had by Walter’s grant in the said vills [named as above] – to Walter and Margaret his wife, William Alyngton junior , Henry Langeley , Richard Willugby , Richard Byngham , and John Okeley chaplain , and the heirs and assigns of Walter. By virtue of this grant Walter was seised in demesne as of fee, and the others as of free tenement. Whether Agnes attorned herself to them by virtue of this grant the jurors do not know. Walter died seised of such estate and no other, jointly with Margaret and the others named above, in demesne as of fee. Great Sampford, Little Sampford, ‘Great’ Radwinter, ‘Little’ Radwinter, Finchingfield, Ashdon, Bartlow End, Stevington End, Helion Bumpstead, Steeple Bumpstead, and Hempstead, 600 a. arable, 30 a. meadow, 50 a. wood, £4 rent, and 2/3 messuage. Hempstead, Great or Little Sampford, and Finchingfield, the reversion of 300 a. arable, 10 a. meadow, 18 a. wood, 40s. rent, and 1/3 messuage, which Agnes, who was the wife of William Wynselowe , held in dower from the inheritance of Walter.
