John Bysshoppestre, chaplain , was seised of the following in demesne as of fee, which he granted to William Babthorp and John Marchall and their heirs and assigns. In the charter, dated at Keythorpe 16 August 1420 and shown to the jurors, the premises were described as all his messuages, lands, tenements, meadows, pastures, rents and reversions in Keythorpe. As a result of the grant William was seised jointly with John, who survives, and died seised of such estate. Keythorpe, 3 messuages and 6 virgates of land, annual value £4, held of the [arch]bishop of York, service unknown. He held the following in right of Margaret who was his wife, who survives. Aylestone, 4 messuages, 8 virgates of land, and 20 a. meadow, annual value £6; and Netherseal or Overseal, a tenement and 10 a. land, with appurtenances in Shackerstone, annual value 5s., held of Richard Vernon, knight , service unknown. Swepstone and Newton Burgoland, 3 messuages, 5 virgates of land, and 20 a. meadow, with appurtenances in Ravenstone and Normanton le Heath, annual value 70s., service and of whom held unknown. ms: bishop.
