By indented charter dated on 15 November 1434, shown to the jurors, John Carelton, junior, clerk , Robert Rudestane , Thomas Warde , and William Reuetour of York, chaplain , granted, among other things, to Roger Salvayn, esquire , now deceased, and Margaret, now wife of Henry Gascoigne , still living – described as Margaret Bolton , daughter of John Bolton , one of the aldermen of the city of York – all their manors of Harswell, Holme on Spalding Moor, and Thorpe le Street, and all their other lands and tenements in Ottringham, to hold to Roger and Margaret, and the heirs of the body of Roger, with remainder to the right heirs of Roger. Roger was thus seised in demesne as of fee tail, and he died seised of this estate without an heir with Margaret. After his death, right in the manors, lands, and tenements accrued to Margaret. She continued in her estate after the death of Roger and yet so continues. After Roger’s death, right of remainder descended to John Salvayn , named in the writ, as brother and heir of Roger. John died without issue, and the right of remainder has descended to John Wilton, kin and heir of John Salvayn, as son of Alice sister of John. Harswell and Thorpe le Street, the manors, held of Thomas, son and heir of Thomas, late Lord Roos, by knight service. Annual value £40. Holme on Spalding Moor, the manor, held of Henry Brounflete, knight, by knight service. Annual value 10 marks. Ottringham, lands and tenements, held of Robert Rolleston, provost of the college of St John, Beverley, in right of the college, by knight service. Annual value £10. He was seised of the following manor in demesne as of fee. North Duffield, the manor, held of Robert, bishop of Durham, as of his manor of Howden by knight service. Annual value 100 marks.

He died on 4 May 1441. John Wilton , his kin and next heir, as son of Alice sister of John, is aged 16 and more. Henry Wilton , father of John, yet survives.
