In the third, there is 13s. 5d. assize rent, taken from various free tenants, payable at Martinmas and Pentecost equally; 4 messuages and 17 bovates, worth 62s. yearly; 8 cottages, worth 12s. yearly; a third of 3 shops, worth 8d. yearly; and a croft by ‘le Cowgate’, parcels of land called ‘Croftlandes’ and ‘Carrode’, 1/3 pasture called ‘le Brome’, a third ‘del Clowheyd’, a third of ‘le Outegang’, a parcel of land called ‘Holmoncroft’, a croft by ‘le Newgarthes’, a small waste with a croft, called ‘Buskplace’, a croft called ‘Birleys’, pastures called ‘Holmys’ and ‘Brakenhawe’, a parcel of land called ‘Carleys’, a small waste lately in the tenure of Robert Clerk, a waste cottage, and 1/3 site of the manor called ‘Halleys’, worth 15s. 2d. yearly. He held no more nor other lands or tenements of the king in chief, or any other, in demesne or service. He and William Tylney of Boston were, however, lately seised in demesne as of fee of the manor of Breighton with appurtenances in Hilston, Owstwick, and Benningholme, that they lately had, among other things, by demise of Thomas Sutton and Thomas Meres , esquires. By charter dated on 14 August 1439, shown to the jurors, Robert and William demised the manor to Robert Wilughby, lord of Eresby , knight , John Constable, knight , Philip Tylney of Boston, Thomas Sutton of Milton in Northamptonshire, Robert Haytefeld in Yorkshire, Richard Pynchebeke, senior , Richard Benyngton of Boston, Guy Rouclyf of Yorkshire, Maurice Turney, clerk , John Ireby, chaplain , and Thomas Prykefeld , and their heirs and assigns. They were, and still are, seised in demesne as of fee. Breighton, the manor with appurtenances in Hilston, Owstwick, Benningholme. It is not held of the king in chief, nor any parcel thereof, but of whom it is held and by what service is unknown. Similarly, he and William Tylney of Boston were lately seised in demesne as of fee of the manor of Thorpe Garth. By charter dated at Gedney on 10 July 1439, shown to the jurors, they demised it to Robert Wilughby, lord of Eresby , Philip Tylney , Thomas Sutton , Richard Pynchebeke , Richard Benyngton , Maurice Turney , John Ireby , and Thomas Prykefeld , and their heirs and assigns. The feoffees were, and still are, seised in demesne as of fee. Thorpe Garth, the manor. It is not held of the king in chief, nor any parcel thereof, but of whom it is held and by what service is unknown.

The manor of Breighton is initially recorded in ms as ‘the manors of Breighton with appurtenances in Hilston, Owstwick, and Benningholme, and with all other appurtenances’, but it is described elsewhere in the inquisition in the singular. Either the place-name, or Robert’s surname is omitted in ms. He may have been ‘Robert Haytefeld of Hatfield in Yorkshire’.
