474 Writ devenerunt. 11 November 1440. [Bate]. William Parles was brother and heir of Ralph son of Walter Parles of Watford son of Ralph Parles, esquire , who held of ‪Henry V in chief. Inquire what lands and tenements came to the hand of Henry V by the death of Ralph Parles, esquire, and because of the minorities of Ralph and William, sons of Walter, and are yet in the king’s hand.

By the death of Ralph Parles, esquire, and because of the minorities of Ralph son of Walter Parles of Watford and of William Parles, brother and heir of Ralph son of Walter, the following came to the hand of Henry V and is yet in the king’s hand. Watford, the manor that extends to the hamlets of Murcott and Silsworth, annual value 100s., held of the king in chief by knight service. Stoke Bruerne, 4 messuages, worth nothing yearly because ruinous; 3 tofts, each worth 4d. yearly; 200 a. land, each acre worth 2d. yearly; 30 a. meadow, each acre worth 2d. yearly; 40 a. wood, each acre worth 2d. yearly; 100 a. pasture, each acre worth 1d. yearly; a watermill, worth 10s. yearly; and 16s. rent from a mill called ‘Twyford Mille’ in Shutlanger that is worth nothing yearly because ruinous. Alderton, 2 messuages, worth nothing yearly because ruinous, 30 a. land, each acre worth 2d. yearly, and 2 a. meadow, each acre worth 2d. yearly. The messuages, tofts, land, meadow, wood, pasture, mill, and rent, are not held of the king, but of whom they are held and by what service is unknown.
He died on 20 May 1430. John Parles , brother of William, is his next heir and aged 21 and more on 1 October last.
