He was seised of the following messuages and rent in demesne as of fee. Thus seised, by indented deed dated on 1 April 1419, the other part of which was sealed with his seal and shown to the jurors, in which he is described as John Belasys, esquire, he granted an annual rent of £9 from the messuages and rent, described as all his lands, tenements, rents, possessions, and services in the vill of Newcastle upon Tyne, to Alice, who was wife of Nicholas de Redele , still living, and her assigns for the term of Alice’s life, to be taken at Pentecost and Martinmas equally, with power to distrain on the lands and tenements until satisfaction is made if the rent should fall into arrears in part or total by 40 days after any term. Newcastle upon Tyne, 5 messuages and £4 8s. 2d. free rent from various free tenants, payable at Pentecost and Martinmas equally. The messuages are held of the king in free burgage as all the vill is held, and the rent is held of no-one. The messuages and rent are worth nothing yearly above this burden.
He died on 26 May last. Alice Belasys , his daughter and next heir, is aged 30 and more. [Head:] Delivered to court on 4 November 1440.

There is the manorial site, containing about 6 a. land with 2 houses, worth nothing yearly above repair and enclosure; a garden belonging to and adjoining the 1/2 manorial site, worth nothing yearly above enclosure; 200 a. arable, each acre worth 2d. yearly; 30 a. meadow, each acre worth 6d. yearly; and a waste, containing 10 a. land, worth 10d. yearly. Whitelea, 8 bovates and 4 crofts, annual value 6s. 8d., in the hamlet of Whitelea in the vill of Cramlington, held of the king in chief as of his barony of Gaugy as 1/30 knight’s fee. Tranwell, 5 messuages and 5 husband-lands, annual value 3s., held of Ralph, Lord Greystoke and of Morpeth, service unknown. Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, one messuage, worth nothing yearly because totally levelled and laid waste, held of the king in burgage as all the vill is held. Mitford, 2 burgages, held of Henry Gray, lord of Codnor, and Margaret his wife, and William Lucy, knight, and Elizabeth his wife, in right of Margaret and Elizabeth, by service of rendering 8d. yearly for all service. Annual value of the burgages, 18d. above the rent.
