The date is recorded in ms as ‘Monday 29 October 18 Henry VI’, but this was a Thursday. Furthermore, ‘18 Henry VI’ seems to have replaced an erased date, possibly ‘17 Henry VI’, judging by the ‘p’ that is still showing, but even here, the 29 October is not a Monday. There is a largely illegible marginal note consisting of two words, one of which is ‘estate’. See following note. In the inquisition of 154 the sparrowhawk is rendered at Michaelmas, and in that of 155, it is rendered at the feast of St Peter in Chains. The date is recorded in ms as ‘Thursday after the feast of the Assumption of Mary 17 Henry VI’. This translates as 20 August 1439, but the regnal year should instead be ‘16 Henry VI’: see the other inquisitions of this group.
