Robert Aleyn, parson of Rotherfield Greys , and Henry Bynfeld of Shiplake were seised in demesne as of fee of the manor of Harpsden. On 1 April 1415, they granted it to John Harpeden, knight , and his assigns, to hold at the will of Robert and Henry. John thus entered the manor and occupied it at the will of Robert and Henry for his entire life, and died seised of this estate and no other. After his death, Robert and Henry entered the manor and by their charter, dated at Harpsden on 20 May 1438, granted it to the most excellent prince, lord Humphrey, duke of Gloucester , and his heirs and assigns. The charter was shown to the jurors. Humphrey, still living, was thus seised of the manor in demesne as of fee. Harpsden, the manor, annual value £20, held of James, earl of Ormond , service unknown. John Harpeden did not die seised of the manor of Swinbrook, nor any parcel of the same. John Golafre, esquire , was then seised of the manor in demesne as of free tenement by demise of Thomas Broke, knight .

Wargrave, a messuage, 80 a. land, 20 a. meadow, 100 a. pasture, and 30 a. wood; and a tenement called ‘le Bere’, held of Henry, bishop of Winchester in right of his church, service unknown. Annual value, 10 marks. Cookham, 2 mills called ‘le Reymylles’ within the lordship of Cookham, held of the duke of Gloucester , as of his manor of Cookham, service unknown. Annual value, 20 marks. He granted the messuage, tenement, land, meadow, pasture, wood, and mills by charter to the most excellent prince, lord Humphrey, duke of Gloucester , and his heirs and assigns. The charter was dated on 29 April 1438 and shown to the jurors. The duke was thus seised in demesne as of fee and, so seised, he granted the messuage, tenement etc. to John Harpeden , to hold at the will of the duke. The grant was made on 1 May 1438. John thus entered the lands and tenements, and occupied them for his entire life at the will of the duke. He died seised of this estate and no other and, after his death, the duke entered the lands and tenements and is seised in demesne as of fee.
