The following came into the king’s hand, where it remains, owing to the death of Peter Tillioll, knight , who held it in demesne as of fee, and because of the idiocy and minority of Robert Tillioll his son. Houghton, the manor, and Scaleby, the castle, annual value 40s., and no more because the manor was now lately (iam tarde) wasted by the Scots, held of the king in chief by homage and fealty and rendering 11s. 11 1/2d. for cornage yearly at the exchequer in Carlisle at the Assumption. Kirklinton, 1/3 manor, annual value nil because it lies totally wasted and destroyed by the Scots, held of the king in chief by homage and fealty. Hetherford, 6 messuages, annual value nil because wasted by the Scots, held of the king in chief by homage and fealty. Ireby, the manor, annual value 20 marks, held of Henry, earl of Northumberland , in chief by homage and fealty. Rickerby, the manor, annual value 10 marks, and not more because wasted as above, held of Marmaduke, bishop of Carlisle , as of his manor of Linstock by homage and fealty. Hayton and Torpenhow, the manors, with a close called ‘Torpenhowe Parke’ in Allerdale, annual value 40 marks, held of Henry, earl of Northumberland , as of his manor of Papcastle by homage and fealty. Rotheland and le Blamyrs, the manor, annual value nil because totally wasted and destroyed by the Scots, not held of the king , but of whom held in chief unknown. Newbiggin Fell, 6 messuages, annual value 20s., held of Henry Wherton , service unknown. Solport, the manor, annual value nil because totally wasted as above, held of Joan, countess of Westmorland , service unknown. Carlisle, 4 messuages in the city, annual value 10s., annual rents of 8s. and 6s. 8d. respectively from two tenants, John Warde, senior , and John Knoblowe, chaplain , payable at Pentecost and Martinmas equally, a messuage next to ‘Neulathes’ called ‘Soureby’ and a close called ‘Callebek’, annual value 3s. 4d., and 60 a. land lying outside the city called ‘Lucylandes’, annual value 40s., not held of the king , but of whom held or by what service unknown.
He died on 10 November last. Isabel, wife of John Colvell , aged 30 years and more, and Margaret, wife of Christopher Moresby, knight , aged 26 years and more, are his sisters and next heirs.
