He died seised of the following in his demesne as of fee. Cossall, the manor, held of the king in chief of the honour of Peverel as 1/20 knight’s fee. There is the manorial site, 4 ruinous messuages, and 3 cottages, worth nothing yearly; 3 small crofts and 2 small tofts, each worth 4d. yearly; 240 a. land, each acre worth 1d. yearly; 20 a. exhausted meadow, each acre worth 6d. yearly; 20 a. wood, its underwood and herbage worth 12d. yearly above enclosure; and 3s. 6d. assize rent, payable at Pentecost and Martinmas equally.
He died on 13 November 1431. Hugh Skevyngton is his brother and next heir, and aged 21 years and more.
Richard Byngham, lately escheator , to whom the king granted custody of the manor by letters patent dated on 23 May 1433 [CFR 1430–37, p. 149], occupied the manor from 13 November and took the issues by virtue of his office as well as by the letters patent: he is thus answerable to the king. The letters patent were shown to the jurors.
