By his indented charter shown to the jurors and dated at Furneaux Pelham on 27 December 1432, he enfeoffed John Fray , John Basset , John Mulso , Thomas Neuport and George atte Sloo , chaplain, and their heirs, with the manors, lands and tenements in order to fulfil his last will. They were seised and by their tripartite charter, dated at Furneaux Pelham on 17 July 1434, they demised the same, with the following exceptions, to Cecily, lately his wife, for life according to his last will, sealed with his seal and shown to them and openly acknowledged. Cecily was seised. Hixham: a tenement formerly John Vnderwode’s, worth 5s. after services, and held of the bishop of London , service unknown; and a tenement lately John Bocher’s, worth 5s. yearly above all charges and held of the same bishop, service unknown. The tenements are parts of the manor. The feoffees demised the former tenement to William Cawardyn, servant of William Neuport , for life, according to his will. They demised the latter tenement to the said William Salman [sic] for life, according to William Neuport ’s will. Furneaux Pelham manor, a tenement in which Thomas Salman [also given as John] lives, part of the manor, worth 5s. yearly above all charges, and held of the same bishop, service unknown, which the feoffees demised to John Salman for life according to William’s will. A tenement in which Henry Parker lives, worth 5s. yearly above all charges, and held of the same bishop, service unknown, which the feoffees demised to him for life according to William’s will. Manuden, Essex, all lands and tenements called ‘Neumanneslandes’. He was lately seised of the following. By his charter shown to the jurors and dated on 1 August 1419, he granted these, described as all lands and tenements that he had in those vills, to John Fray , Thomas Huls , John Basset , William Selman and Peter Gerard and their heirs and assigns, who were seised in their demesne as of fee. Thomas Huls and Peter died. Waterford, the manor, in which there is a messuage, worth nothing yearly; 200 a. land, worth 40s. yearly, each acre 2d., at the same terms; 8 a. meadow, worth 8s. yearly, each acre 12d., at the same terms; 6 a. pasture, worth 3s. yearly, each acre 6d., at the same terms; view of frankpledge with the court, worth 12d. yearly after the steward’s expenses; and 4s. 4d. assize rent, at the same terms. The feoffees were seised in their demesne as of fee in order to fulfil his last will. After his death they demised the messuage to William Cawardyn for life, according to the last will shown to them. ‘Newmanneslandes’: there is there a messuage, worth nothing yearly; 6 a. land, worth 18d. yearly, each acre 3d., at the same terms; and 1 a. meadow, worth 6d. yearly.
