John Barton named in the writ held the manor of Dunton jointly enfeoffed with John Cotesmore , John Longevyll , Thomas Payn , William Thommes, clerk , and Gilbert Bury, clerk , who survive, by grant and enfeoffment of Richard Baynard , Robert Darcy , Richard Fox and Richard Duryvall, clerk , to John, John, Thomas, William, Gilbert and John Barton, senior [sic], now deceased, and their heirs, royal licence obtained and shown to the jurors before the escheator [CPR 1422–29, p. 211]. Dunton. The manor is held of the king in chief by service of a knight’s fee, annual value £40.
He died on 31 January last. Margaret and Isabel his sisters are his next heirs, each aged 50 years and more.
