Jurors: Thomas Daston of Wormington; John Freman ; William Beaumont ; Thomas Gremet ; John Weley ; John Bonefaunt ; Henry Ailworthe ; John Hereward ; Richard Borne ; John Tame ; Thomas Goderiche ; and Walter Goderiche .
Long before his death he was seised in his demesne as of fee of the whole manor of Dymock, annual value £26 13s. 4d., held of the king in chief by knight service. By his deed, date unknown, he granted and confirmed the manor to William Folyet, esquire , and William Palmer, chaplain , and their heirs, royal licence not obtained. They were seised in their demesne as of fee, and by their deed, date unknown and without royal licence, William and William re-granted the manor to Richard and Elizabeth his wife and his heirs, successive remainders to Edmund Ruyhale for life, Laura (Lora) Chapman for life, and Laura Belamy and Elizabeth her sister and the heirs of their bodies. Richard and Elizabeth were seised, Richard in his demesne as of fee tail and Elizabeth as of free tenement.
He died on 30 January 1408. Richard his son was then his next heir, aged 2 years. He died on 25 July 1415.
Elizabeth his wife continued in possession of the manor from the time of his death and took the issues until she married Richard Oldecastell, esquire . They surrendered all their right and estate to the same Edmund Ruyhale , brother of Richard Ruyhale . He entered and granted the manor to Richard Oldecastell and Elizabeth and the heirs of Richard, whether with royal licence is unknown. Because Edmund was a tenant for life and alienated the manor, on 14 August 1421 Thomas Charlecote entered the manor in the name of Isabel his wife, daughter of Margaret, daughter of Laura Belamy , Margaret, daughter of Alice Shortegrove , other daughter of Laura, and Agnes ap Rees , daughter of Elizabeth Coterell , daughter of Elizabeth, sister of Laura, being the next co-heirs of Laura and Elizabeth. Richard Oldecastell and Elizabeth his wife ejected Thomas, Isabel, Margaret and Agnes, and occupied the manor and took its issues. Richard died, date unknown and Elizabeth continued in possession and took the issues until her death on 8 October 1428 [CIPM, xxiii, nos 228–9]. John Merbury, esquire , of Herefordshire, subsequently took the issues until the day of this inquisition, title and estate unknown. Isabel, wife of Thomas Cherlecote , is aged 30 years and more, Margaret 28 years and more, and Agnes 27 years and more.
