, after the death of John and they were conjointly seised of the manor of Watford by gift of
John
Daundelyn
to George and Mary, and to the heirs of George, by a deed shown to the jurors, dated Watford 1 August 1408. Henry IV afterwards pardoned George and Mary, among others, by letters patent dated Westminster 3 February 1409, for all manner of gifts, alienations, and purchases, without royal licence, of lands and tenements held of the king in chief. The letters were shown to the jurors. George was thus seised of the manor in demesne as of fee and Mary was seised in demesne as of free tenement. George died, and Mary continued in her estate for life and died so seised.

There is a hall, two chambers, a cook-house, 2 barns, 2 stables, a watch-tower (garet), and a kiln, worth nothing yearly; a dovecot, worth 2s. yearly; a croft called ‘le Orchard’, worth 20d. yearly; 200 a. demesne land, each acre worth 2d. yearly;
20 a. demesne meadow, each acre worth 12d. yearly; 40 a. pasture, each acre worth 2d. yearly; one enclosed croft, worth 26s. 8d. yearly; a wood called ‘le hay’ containing 30 a. wood, worth nothing yearly above enclosure; 5 stanks, worth nothing yearly;
36 virgates, each virgate containing 24 a. land, each acre worth 2d. yearly, and 2 a. meadow, and each acre of meadow worth 12d. yearly
; view of frankpledge held twice yearly, worth 40d. yearly; two crofts in the hands of various tenants, each croft worth 16d. yearly; 40s. rent, taken at the four terms of the year by equal parts; rent of 1lb pepper and 1lb pepper and lb cumin, taken at Michaelmas from the abbot of St James, Northampton; 6 cottages, each worth 6d. yearly; and
4 tofts, each worth 2d. yearly.
Watford, 1/3 manor. There is a messuage, 16 virgates of land, 16 a. meadow, and 19s. rent in Watford and Silsworth, the messuage, land, and meadow are worth nothing yearly above rent resolute. The two parts and third of the manor are held of the king
in chief as ½ knight’s fee.
She died on 24 August last.
