He held the following conjointly enfeoffed with Agnes, lately his wife and still living, and to the heirs of their bodies, [1]+by grant of William Fynderne, esquire , Thomas Bekyngham, esquire , Thomas Belwode , and William Fenton, clerk , by a fine, among other things, levied in the king’s court and shown to the jurors [CP 25/1/292/66 no. 83]. By this fine, William, Thomas, Thomas, and William recognised the following to be in right of John Dabryggecourt and Agnes.+[1] Stratfield Mortimer and Beech Hill, 12 messuages and 60 a. arable, annual value 20s. They are not held of the king but of the earl of March as of his manor of Stratfield Mortimer, and of others, service unknown.
He died on 9 July last. Thomas son of John Dabryggecourt and Agnes his wife is John’s next heir, and aged 4 and more.[Head:] Received on 10 November.

The fine was levied at Westminster on the octave of St John the Baptist 1428 and the king’s licence was obtained by letters patent also shown to the jurors [CPR 1422–1429, p. 479]. Stratfield Saye, the manor with advowson of the church there, held of the king in chief as a knight’s fee. True annual value of the manor, 20 marks. Stratfield Saye, Heywood, Bramley, Heckfield, and Waterford (Wattesford), 3 messuages, a toft, 2 mills, 220 a. land, 10 a. meadow, 20 a. pasture, and 40s. rent, true annual value 10 marks. They are not held of the kingbut of Lord St John as of his manor of Basing, and of others, service unknown. He held the following in demesne as of fee. Thomas Say and Isabel his wife were lately seised of the following in demesne as of fee tail by gift of master John de Tyngewyk. Stratfield Saye, the manor and advowson of the church there, and £10 rent, parcel of the same manor, held of the king in chief by knight service. They died seised of this estate and the manor etc. descended to Sibyl as daughter and heir of Thomas and Isabel. Sibyl died and the manor etc. descended to Elizabeth as daughter and heir of Sibyl. Elizabeth died and the manor etc. descended to John Dabryggecourt as son and heir of Elizabeth. John died and the manor etc. descended to John as son and heir of John. Thus seised, he granted the manor and advowson to William Fynderne, esquire , Thomas Bekyngham , Thomas Belwode , and William Fenton, clerk . They were never seised of the rent nor any parcel of the same and no tenant attorned to them for lands and tenements regarding the rent, nor any parcel of the same. William, Thomas, Thomas, and William granted the manor and advowson to John and Agnes his wife, and to the heirs of their bodies. Whether royal licence was obtained is unknown at present but, before the grant of the manor and advowson to William, Thomas etc., and at the time of the grant, John son of John always took the issues of the manor. He also took them after the grant and died seised of the manor and advowson in this way. He died seised of the following in demesne as of fee. Bramley, an assarted croft, held of the king in chief as 1/100 knight’s fee. The true annual value of the manor, croft, and rent is £23. This part of the transaction as the grant of 656+[1].
Date of death and heir as 656, except that Thomas is aged 6 years, and custody of the manor, advowson, croft, and heir belongs to the king.
Agnes took the issues from the time of John’s death.
