John Lovell , George de Etton , and John de Wodeburn were lately seised in demesne as of fee of the manor of Scampston. They demised it to John Neville, late Lord Latimer , and Maud, then his wife, now countess of Cambridge , for their lives. The grant was made by charter dated Sinnington 1 January 1406, in which they are described as John Neville, Lord Latimer , and Lady Maud his wife. John died seised of this estate. The charter was shown to the jurors. Scampston, the manor, true annual value 20 marks, held of John, duke of Norfolk , service unknown. Henry Nesfeld , William Frankes , and Thomas Romondeby, chaplain , were lately seised in demesne as of fee of the manors of Sinnington and Marton. They granted them to John and Maud his wife, and to the heirs of John’s body, with remainder to John de Etton, knight , Edmund Hastynges, knight , John Lovell , Robert Wyllesthorp , and Thomas Wyllesthorp , and to their heirs in perpetuity. The grant was made by indented charter dated Sinnington 25 July 1407, in which they are described as John Neville, Lord Latimer , and Maud his wife. John died seised of this estate. The charter was shown to the jurors. Sinnington, the manor, true annual value £10; and Marton, the manor, true annual value 40s., held of Ralph, earl of Westmorland , service unknown.
He died on 10 December last without heir of his body. John Willoughby, chevalier , his kin and next heir as the son of Elizabeth sister of John, is aged 30 and more.
