Caston, the manor, with appurtenances in Caston, Toston, Thompson, Beckerton, Shipdham, and Old Buckenham, held of the king as of his honour of Wormegay as a knight’s fee. Thomas, Lord Bardolf , forfeit the honour to the crown because he opposed ‪ Henry IV . He granted the manor with its appurtenances, described as his manors of Bradeston, Caston, Shipdham, and West Tofts, with advowsons of the churches of Bradeston and the annexed chapel of Brundall, North Burlingham, South Burlingham, Strumpshaw, Caston, West Tofts, and Antingham, and all their liberties, rights, easements, and appurtenances, to Thomas Tudenham, knight , for life, to hold of the chief lords of those fees by due service, with remainder to William Phelip and Henry Inglose , knights, Oliver Groos , and John Fitzrauff , and to their heirs and assigns in perpetuity. The grant was made by indented charter dated Bradeston 24 November 1427. The manorial tenants attorned to Thomas, still living.
He died on 30 July last. John, his son and next heir, is aged 2 and more.
