The manor is held by <rs type="serviceTenure" subtype="kni">knight service</rs></holding> and <holding xml:id="CIPM-HLD-23-292-2b">the <itemName>marsh</itemName> is held by <rs type="serviceTenure" subtype="flt">fealty</rs> in <rs type="serviceTenure" subtype="soc">socage</rs></holding><!-- insert heldOf details -->. The monastery and church of <name type="place">St Augustine</name> was founded by the present king’s ancestors, former kings of England, and is thus in the gift of the present king. He has wardship of all its temporalities during vacancies and, after the death of <name type="person" key="1892935">Marcel</name>, the most recent abbot, <name type="person" key="https://ipm-stg.cch.kcl.ac.uk/django/eats/entity/2718905/">the king</name> seized all the temporalities into his hands, and they are still there for that reason.
