He held no lands or tenements of the king in chief or any other in demesne or service. He was seised of the following in demesne as of fee long before his death, held of John Souche, lord of Castle Cary , rent and service unknown. Castle Cary and Ansford, a toft and 2 a. land; and Cockhill and Cockhill Marsh, 20s. 1½d. rent from a tenement, ½ virgate land, and 3½ a. arable, presently held by Walter Mychell and Avice his wife for life, with reversion to John Cary . He granted the above, with the reversion when it falls, to Thomas Faryngdon of Tincleton and Stephen Raulyn of Wareham, and to their heirs and assigns in perpetuity. The grant was made by charter dated Castle Cary 25 September 1424, and he was described as John Cary, clerk , son and heir of William Swyft of Cockhill in the parish of Castle Cary. The charter was shown to the jurors. Thomas and Stephen are still seised of the lands and tenements. John Cary bound himself and his heirs to guarantee this grant by the same charter.

He died on 11 May last. Christine wife of Roger Tally is his kin and next heir as the sister of William Swyft father of John, and aged 50 and more.
