Regarding his inheritance as son of Hugh who held by knight service of Thomas Seintcler brother and heir of John Seintcler son and heir of Philip Seintcler, chevalier , and Margaret his wife. Thomas was lately a minor in the wardship of ‪ Henry VI .

William Skardevyle , 52 and more, swears that John was aged 26 on 15 August last. He was born at Bosham and baptised in the church there on 15 August 1401. His godfathers were John Haker and ?John ?Hover [ms worn and dirty], and his godmother was Alice Grenyer . William’s brother, John, died and was buried on the same day at Bosham. Twenty-six years have passed since then. Roger Holt , 53 and more, married Elizabeth daughter of Thomas Cotys in Bosham church. Robert Mawdyt , 54 and more, was building a wall next to the belfry while John was baptised. Walter atte Stokke , 56 and more, had John his first-born son baptised on the same day. John Barbour , 58 and more, had John his servant arrested in Bosham church by the earl marshal’s bailiff. Henry Wendore , 51 and more, was at Bosham with Alice his wife on 8 September. Alice mother of John Short was churched on this day. Henry Syteler , 54 and more, says that his house in West Thorney by Bosham caught fire after the birth of John Short . William Yulond , 60 and more, was practising his archery targets with associates, when he hit John Ferrement with a bolt in his left shin. Richard Bernam , 55 and more, says that William his father died. John Hunt, bailiff of the earl marshal, seized a white horse as heriot. John Page , 58 and more, says that John Hertwode hung himself with a noose at Bosham. He came to see John hanging and, on his return, met a woman carrying John Short to Bosham church for baptism. John Stanbewe , 58 and more, was at Bosham to see the timber cross for the church belfry. Walter Crosse , 59 and more, drove a cart laden with hay from the demesne meadow of the manor of Bosham to its grange on 14 August 1401. He was standing on the cart in the grange when he suddenly fell and broke his left shin.
The writ specifies ‘our wardship’, i.e., that of ‪ Henry VI , whereas the proof specifies the wardship to have been under ‪ Henry V.
