25 Writ melius inquirendo . ‡ 16 October 1428. [Wymbyssh]. Regarding CIPM XXI no. 761, an inquisition held in 1421. It was found that he held no lands or tenements of Henry V or any other. Inquire after the lands and tenements that he did hold.
BEDFORDSHIRE. Inquisition [indented]. Woburn 29 October 1427. [Loudsop]. Wood, List of Escheators, records that William Loudsop, the escheator who returned the inquisition, held office from 12 November 1427 until 4 November 1428.

Regarding the manor of Langford, annual value 9 marks, held of the king in chief by knight service. He confirmed the right by which Thomas Peyure, esquire , William Halle , and John Hals held the manor of Langford, with other manors, lands, and tenements: this was in part discharge of 800 marks to the three men by recognizance before the late mayor of the staple of the city of London by Nicholas Wodhull , his father, as shown more fully in Chancery [ CPR 1408–1413, p. 295]. The confirmation was made by indented deed on 1 May 1411 and he thereby granted the manor to them, and their heirs and assigns, to hold of the chief lords of that fee by due service, provided that if they, or their heirs and assigns, wish to hold the manor in mesne beyond the term of 17 years, they must render £200 yearly at Easter to him, and his heirs and assigns. This appears more fully in the other part of the indenture shown to the jurors. The term of 17 years was complete on 1 May last when the issues of Langford manor fell due to the king because of the minority of Thomas his son and heir. Thomas Peyure , William and John did not wish to render £200 rent and so the escheator entered the manor with their assent on 1 May in right of Thomas son of Thomas.
He died on 22 March 1421. Thomas is his son and next heir, and aged 16 and more. He is a minor in the king’s wardship.
