The manor of ‘Olyuers’ and the tenement and 200 a. land called Bellhouse, in Stanway, are held of the abbot and convent of St John, Colchester by service of 13s. 8d. yearly. The 2 tenements, with the water-mill and 200 a. arable and meadow belonging to them, called ‘Hervyes’ of Bocking and ‘Renkynes’ of Bocking in Bocking and Stisted, a parcel of land called ‘Wareyneslond’ containing 28 a. land in Bocking, and a tenement with 100 a. land and meadow, called ‘Bredefordes’, in Bocking and Braintree, similarly contained in the writ, are held of the prior and convent of Christ Church, Canterbury, of their manor of Bocking Hall, by service of 60s. yearly. The manor of Parkhall in Gosfield is held of the earl of March of his honour of Gloucester by service of 1/2 knight’s fee. The manor called ‘Morelles’ together with all lands, tenements, rents and services belonging or adjacent to the manor, in Gosfield, Sible Hedingham, Great Maplestead, Halstead and Bocking, is held of the earl of Oxford of his manor called ‘Preyers’ in Sible Hedingham by service of 6d. yearly and suit of court. The manors and all lands, tenements, rents and services called ‘Berewyk’, ‘Scoteneys’ and ‘Cardeux’ with all appurtenances and appendages in Toppesfield, Great Yeldham, Little Yeldham, Great or Little Maplestead, Haverhill and Sible Hedingham similarly specified, are held of the earl of March of the honour of Gloucester by service of a knight’s fee. The manor of Stanway with the advowson of its church and all easements belonging to it, is held of Walter Lord Fitzwauter of his manor of Lexden by service of a pair of gilt spurs worth 6d.
