They granted these to Roger Dorlaston and Anne his wife and the heirs of their bodies, remainder to Roger Hyllary, knight , his heirs and assigns. Roger Dorlaston and Alice were seised and they had issue Roger and died. John Birmyngeham, knight , was formerly seised of the above manor, lands, tenements, fairs, market and advowsons in his demesne as of fee. He gave them to Bernard Brokas , John Wodevill , Alexander de Besford , their heirs and assigns, on the condition that they re-enfeoff John Birmyngeham and Elizabeth then his wife, and John’s heirs and assigns. Bernard, John Wodevill and Alexander were seised in the time of ‪ Edward III and granted the manor etc. as above. John and Elizabeth were seised in the time of ‪ Edward III . John Birmyngeham died and Ellen wife of Edmund Ferrers, Lord of Chartley , chevalier , and Elizabeth wife of George Longevile, esquire , are his kinswomen and next heirs as the daughters of Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas his brother. Elizabeth is aged 26 years and more, Ellen 24 years and more. She was formerly seised of the manor of Stretton on Fosse, the advowson of its church, and 2 messuages, a carucate and a virgate in the vills of Erdington and Sutton ?under Brailes. She granted these, described as the manor of Stretton on Fosse with all lands and tenements, rents and services which she had in these vills, according to the charter detailed in 341. Thomas Wydevill , John Longevill , John Barton junior , William Thomes, clerk , William Palmer , and Gilbert Bury, clerk are still seised. Annual value of the manor 40s. and of the messuage and land 4s. The manor, advowson, messuage and land are held of the earl of Warwick , service unknown. She held the advowson of Arley church in dower by endowment of Robert, late Lord Grey of Rotherfield , her former husband, of the inheritance of Alice wife of William Lord Lovell and Holand and Margaret wife of Ralph Cromwell, Lord of Tattershall , daughters and heirs of Joan, daughter and heir of Robert her husband. The advowson is extended at 10 marks and is held of Robert Rocheford, knight , service unknown. Alice is aged 19 years and more, Margaret 17 years and more. She held the castle of Maxstoke in her demesne as of fee tail by grant of Richard Rymyld, clerk , and John Wedon, chaplain , to John de Clynton, knight , and Elizabeth, then his wife, and their male heirs, remainder to his right heirs. John died without heir by Elizabeth. The castle with adjacent park is worth nothing yearly. In Maxstoke there are 4 carucates, worth 26s. 8d. yearly; a pasture called ‘Cowhay’, worth 6s. 8d. yearly; 102s. 4d. assize rents at Michaelmas and Lady Day in equal portions; and 22s. 3d. assize rents in Marston and Coton, at Easter for the whole year. The castle is held of Edward ?Dodyngfols, knight, service unknown. She held the manor of Shustoke in her demesne as of fee tail by grant of Richard Rymyld, clerk , John Wedon, chaplain , and Robert ?Daunser, chaplain, to John de Clynton, knight and Elizabeth and their heirs, remainder to his right heirs. John died without heir by Elizabeth. In the manor there are the site, worth nothing yearly; 2 carucates and 6 a. meadow, worth 40s. yearly; and 42s. assize rents at Candlemas and Midsummer in equal portions. She held a close called ‘Charnell’ worth 12s. yearly. Perquisites of a court are worth 3s. 4d. yearly. The manor is held of the king in chief by knight service. She held the messuage, land, tenement, meadow, wood and close called Colesleys in Coleshill parish, in her demesne as of fee tail by grant of Richard Rymyld, clerk , and John Wedon, chaplain , to John de Clynton, knight and Elizabeth and their heirs, remainder to his right heirs. The messuage is worth nothing yearly, but the land and meadow belonging to the messuage are worth 13s. 4d. yearly. She held the manors of Bole Hall, Perry Croft and Austrey in her demesne as of fee tail to herself and the heirs of John de Clynton and herself, by grant of Richard Rymyld, clerk , and Thomas Darnall, clerk , by a fine levied 1389 [mor. Mart. CP 25/1/247/65 no.28]. In the manor of Bole Hall there are the site, worth nothing yearly; 2 carucates and 8 a. meadow, worth 26s. 8d. yearly, and 26s. 8d. assize rents in Amington and Glascote. In the manor of Perry Croft there are the site, worth nothing yearly; and lands and meadows, worth 20s. yearly. In the manor of Austrey there are the site, worth nothing yearly; and 40s. assize rents at Candlemas and Midsummer in equal portions. The manors of Bole Hall and Perry Croft are held of the earl of Warwick , service unknown. The manor of Austrey is held of the honour of Tutbury, service unknown.
