of Downham died seised in fee tail to himself and the heirs of his body of the manor of Downham by gift of
Henry
de
Dovnum, clerk
. Owing to his death and the minority of
Richard
Dynelay
, his son and heir, who died a minor in Henry V’s wardship, 2/3 of 2/3 manor, except for 38s. 2d. rent and the relief and services of the manorial tenants, came into the hands of Henry V and are still in
Henry VI
’s hands. The manor is held of the king
in chief of the English crown by 1/4 knight’s fee, annual value of these 2 parts of the manor, 6 marks 4s. 5d.
Richard died on 26 June 1420.
John
Dynelay
his brother is his next heir, aged 21 years on 21 June last.
No other lands or tenements came into the hands of Henry V or are still in those of
Henry VI
for the above reasons because Margaret widow of John father of Richard survives and holds 1/3 of 2/3 manor in dower after the death of John her husband and of the inheritance of John brother of Richard, by assignment of Henry V in his Chancery [CCR 1413–19, p.309].
