She held in chief by knight service of Henry IV the manors of King's Weston and Aylburton and the manor of Rockhampton except certain portions in Sheperdine, of which Maurice had died seised in his demesne as of fee, by feoffment of John Berkeley, knight , John Denham, knight , Thomas Stowell and Thomas Milleward , chaplain s, to him and Joan and the heirs of their bodies, remainder to his right heirs, the king's licence having been obtained [18 May 1400: CPR 1399-1401, p. 288]. Annual values: the manor of King's Weston, 20 marks; the manor of Aylburton, 50 marks; the manor of Rockhampton, 40 marks above the portions of land at Sheperdine.
Joan died on 22 Aug. 1412. Maurice de Berkeley, knight , son of Maurice and Joan, is their next heir, aged 21 years and more.
By letters patent of 27 Nov. 1401 [28 Nov. 1401: CPR 1401-5, pp. 20-1], shown to the jurors in evidence, ‪ Henry IV granted to Francis de Court, knight , the keeping of the lands of Maurice the son and his marriage until his majority. Francis occupied the lands and took the profits. He made his wife Alice his executrix and died. Alice married Lewis Johan, esquire , and they have take the profits since Francis's death.
