By reason of the death of Gilbert Talbot and because of the minority of his daughter and heir Anchoret the manor and hundred of Bampton came into the king's hand; 2/3 remain with the king and 1/3 is held in dower by Gilbert's widow Beatrice, reversion to Anchoret's kinsman and heir John Talbot . The 2/3 manor and hundred are held of the king in chief of the Crown for 1 knight's fee. There are in the 2/3 manor a stone building with granges and other ruinous buildings, annual value nil, 4 carucates, annual value 53s. 4d., 40 a. meadow and pasture, annual value 30s., a water-mill, annual value 40s., and £16 3s. 4d. assize rents from free tenants and tenants at will at Easter and Michaelmas in equal portions. By charter dated 17 Sept. 1413 Gilbert made Thomas Fetiplace steward of the manor and hundred for life at 50s. yearly by fee and gage, and by charter dated 11 July 1414 granted a yearly rent of 10 marks from the manor at Easter and Michaelmas in equal portions to Nicholas Laundels and his wife Eleanor for life.
She died on 13 Dec. last. John Talbot, knight , is her kinsman and heir, aged 30 years and more, i.e. brother of Gilbert father of Anchoret.
