By the death of Bernard Mussenden , who held it by knight service, and because of the minority of his daughters Alice and Katharine a cottage with a curtilage in the town of Guildford, 8 a. arable in Stoke and 6s. yearly rent at Easter and Michaelmas from a tenement formerly Henry Lokyer 's in Guildford came into Henry IV's hand. The cottage and curtilage are held of the king in burgage, as the entire borough of Guildford is held, by service of 1d. for all services, annual value 12d. The 8 a. arable are held of the bishop of London of his manor of Stoke, service unknown, annual value 6s. 8d.
Alice died on 9 Oct. last. Her sister Katharine is her next heir, aged 13 years and more.

For the same reasons as in 565 the following came into the king's hand: the manor of Kelstern and the manor of Brackenborough with appurtenances in Fanthorpe, Manby, Skidbrooke, Grainthorpe, Yarburgh, Welton and Keddington. Bernard Mussenden , who held in chief of ‪ Henry IV , held the manors except 6 a. arable in the manor of Kelstern in his demesne as of fee tail by grant of Thomas Mussenden and his wife Isabel to Edmund Mussenden , son of Thomas father of Bernard, and Edmund's wife Gillian and the heirs of the body of Edmund, by two fines made in 1369 [CP 25/1/141/ 132, nos 1, 42]. Bernard held the 6 a. arable in the manor of Kelstern in fee simple. The manor of Kelstern, annual value £6 3s. 4d., is held of the king in chief by service of 1/4 knight's fee. There are in the manor the site and the demesne lands, i.e. 6 bovates, 20 a. meadow and 30 a. pasture, annual value 40s.; 6 messuages, 4 tofts, 8 bovates and 20 a. arable which are held of the manor of Kelstern at will, annual value 60s.; 23s. 4d. rents of service paid yearly on the feasts of St. Martin and St. Boltoph. There are in the manor of Brackenborough, annual value £21, the site and the demesne lands, i.e. 2 carucates, 20 a. meadow, 40 a. pasture and 30 a. wood, annual value £8; 10 messuages, 10 tofts, 14 bovates, 20 a. meadow and 20 a. pasture in Brackenborough, Fanthorpe and Keddington which are held of the manor of Brackenborough at will, annual value £8; 60 a. arable, 60 a. pasture and 40s. rents of service paid yearly at the feasts mentioned above as part of the manor of Brackenborough in the townships of Saltfleetby, Manby, Skidbrooke, Grainthorpe, Yarburgh and Welton, annual value 100s.
