John the son died on 3 May last. William Brounyng is his brother and next heir, aged 20 years and 21 weeks.

By a fine levied quin. Trin. 1380 [CP 25/1/78/78, no. 25] between Edmund Blount , quer., and Thomas Fitznicholl, knight , and his wife Margery, def., of the manors of Filton and Harry Stoke and the advowson of Filton, by which Thomas and Margery acknowledged the right of Edmund and rendered them to him to hold to him and his heirs of the chief lord of the fee, rendering 18 marks yearly to Thomas, Margery and the heirs of Margery, Thomas and Margery having powers of distraint for non-payment. By virtue of the fine Thomas and Margery were seised of the rent and had issue an elder daughter Katharine , wife of Robert Poyntz , and a younger daughter Eleanor, wife of John Brounyng . John and Eleanor had a son and heir John named in the writ and a younger son William. Margery, the elder John Brounyng and Eleanor died. Thomas was seised in his demesne as of fee of the manor of Nympsfield and the advowson of the chantry of Kinley, and also of the rent, and died. The rent, manor and advowson descended to Katharine, daughter and one of the heirs of Thomas and Margery, and to John son of John Brounyng the father and Eleanor, kinswoman of Katharine and the other daughter of Thomas and Margery. After the death of Thomas, a partition of the rent, manor and advowson was made in which John son and heir of John Brounyng named in the writ received a moiety. Because he was a minor it came into the king's hand. John Brounyng son and heir of John Brounyng proved his age as appears in the records of Chancery. The manors of Filton and Harry Stoke are held of Lord Berkeley , service unknown, and the manor of Nympsfield and the advowson of the chantry of Kinley of the king in chief by service of 1/4 knight's fee. Annual value of the manor of Nympsfield 8 marks, of the advowson nil.
