He held in his demesne as of fee in fee tail, i.e. to him and the heirs of his body, of the king in chief 1 1/2 carucate, 8 a. meadow, 7 a. wood and 7s. rent in Bentley, held of the king in chief by service of 8s. 4d. yearly, annual value 100s. Edmund de Somervyle gave the 1 1/2 carucate to John de Benteley and the heirs of his body, reversion to Edmund. From John the right descended by form of the gift to the said John Benteley as son and heir of John, and from John son of John descended to John Benteley as son and heir of John son of John. From John son of John son of John the right descended to William de Benteley as son and heir of John son of John son of John, and from William the right descended to John named in the writ as kinsman and heir of William, i.e. son of William son of Eleanor sister of William Benteley .
John named in the writ died without issue on 18 Sept. last. Thomas Griffith, esquire , aged 40 years and more, is the kinsman and next heir of Edmund Somervyle , i.e. son of Rhys son of Joan daughter of Philip son of Roger son of Robert son of Edmund Somervyle . John Hyde of Longford, aged 40 years and more, is the kinsman and next heir of John named in the writ, i.e. brother of Isabel mother of John.

Margaret widow of Roger Hillary, knight , held them for life, with reversion to John the son named in the writ, by grant of his father William Cressich to Margaret and Roger for life. Edmund de Somervyle gave them to John de Benteley and the heirs of his body, reversion to Edmund and his heirs. All other findings as in 490.
