By the courtesy of England after the death of his wife Elizabeth he held in her right the manors of Boarstall, Addingrove and Oakley, and 41 a. 1 1/2 roods pasture in the forest of Bernwood. Edmund and Elizabeth had issue Elizabeth, now deceased, and Katharine, still living, daughters and heirs of Elizabeth. Elizabeth the daughter married Ingram Bruyn and Katharine married Robert James , who survives. By a fine of quin. Mich. 1394 [CP 25/1/290/57, no. 268] shown to the jurors, between John James , deceased, and Robert, quer., and Ingram and Elizabeth, def., Ingram and Elizabeth granted their moiety of the reversion after Edmund's death in the manors and pastures, described in the fine as the manors of Boarstall, Addingrove and Oakley, and 14 messuages, 2 bovates, 3 carucates, 40 a., 622 a. 3 1/2 roods pasture, £12 5s. 5d. rent in Oakley, Brill, Boarstall, East Claydon, Botolph Claydon, Middle Claydon, Thomley and Ickford, and the bailiwick of the forest of Bernwood, to Robert, to remain to Robert James and John James and the heirs of Robert. By another fine of oct. Trin. 1394 [CP 25/1/290/57, no. 285] shown to the jurors, between William Bruns and Henry Bonde , chaplains, quer., and Robert and Katharine, def., Robert and Katherine granted the other moiety of the reversion in manors of Boarstall, Addingrove and Oakley, 14 messuages, 2 bovates, 3 carucates, 622 a. 3 1/2 roods pasture, £12 5s. 5d. rent in Oakley, Brill, etc. as above, and the bailiwick of the forest of Bernwood,to William and Henry, who re-granted it to Robert and Katharine, and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to the right heirs of Robert. The manor of Boarstall, except 2 messuages, a toft, 3 carucates in Boarstall, is held of the king in chief by service of keeping the forest of Bernwood and a rent of 60s. on the morrow of Michaelmas, annual value 100s. Two messuages, a toft and a carucate are held of the king of the honor of Wallingford by suit of court at Wallingford, at the first court held after Michaelmas, annual value 20s. Two carucates are held of William Molyns, knight , of the manor of Brill by a rent of 72s. and suit of court there, annual value 10s. The manor of Oakley is held of the king of the honor of Wallingford by suit of court there at the first court held after Michaelmas, annual value 10s., the manor of Addingrove of William Bourchier, knight , and his wife Joan in right of Joan of the manor of Pollicott, service unknown, annual value 60s. Edmund held the 41 a. 1 1/2 roods pasture of the king, paying to him 104s. 4 3/4d. on 30 Sept., annual value 40s.
He died on 31 July last. Walter, knight , his son and heir, is aged 30 years and more.

[sic] Trin. 1394 [as above, CP 25/1/ 290/57, no. 285] between William Bruns and Henry Bonde , chaplains, quer., and Robert James and Katharine, def., Robert and Katharine granted a moiety of the reversion after Edmund's death in the manor, messuages etc., and bailiwick of the forests of Shotover and Stow Wood to William Bruns and Henry Bonde, who re-granted it to Robert and Katherine and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to Robert's right heirs. By another fine of oct. Mich. [recte quin. Mich.] 1394 [CP 25/1/290/57, no. 268] between John James and Robert James, quer., and Ingram Bruyn and Elizabeth, def., Ingram and Elizabeth granted the other moiety of the reversion to John and Robert and Robert's heirs. Muswell is not held of the king but of whom is unknown, service unknown, annual value 40s. The messuages and 2 carucates are held of the king in chief by the service of keeping the forests, annual value 20s.

By charter shown to the jurors, he held in his demesne as of fee of the king in free burgage as the whole city of London is held jointly with Walter de la Pole, knight , Robert Wodeward, John Marke, chaplain , and Edward Wotton , who survive, a messuage and 12d. rent in the parish of St. Dunstan in the East and late in that of All Hallows Barking, annual value 6 marks, by demise and feoffment of John Dyngle, formerly parson of West Bergholt , and Peter Ardesley to him, his son Walter de la Pole, knight, Robert Wodeward, rector of Mount Bures , Essex, John Marke, chaplain, Edward Wotton and their heirs.
He died on 3 Aug. last. Walter his son and heir is aged 47 years and more.

He held in his demesne as of fee the manor of Dernford and the manor of Sawston alias `Perotesmaner', except 1 a., jointly with Walter de la Pole , by the grant of William de Thorp, knight, made with the licence of ‪ Edward III to Edmund de la Pole, knight , his wife Maud and Walter son of Edmund and Maud, and the heirs of Edmund, described as a moiety of the manor of Sawston with all other premises in Sawston, Babraham and Papworth Everard or St. Agnes with the reversion of the other moiety after the death of Henry Wardedieu , who held the moiety for life, with rents, services of tenants, free and unfree, pasture, wastes, marriages etc., except 1 a. in Babraham next the land of Robert Curteys, senior . Henry Wardedieu attorned to Edmund and Maud and later died. Edmund also held jointly with Walter de la Pole, knight , the manor of Trumpington by the grant of Edmund de Hedersete, knight , to Katharine, the widow of William de la Pole, knight, senior , and Edmund and Walter and the heirs of Edmund. Dernford is held of the king in chief as 1/8 knight's fee, annual value 20 marks, Sawston of the king in chief as 1 fee, annual value 40 marks, and Trumpington of Alan la Souche as 1 fee, annual value 20 marks.

[The Exchequer copy has an apportionment calculation at the foot. Filed with it is a writ amoveas manum (m. 3) dated 23 Oct. 1419, attested by John, duke of Bedford [Wymbyssh], which recites that his son Walter is of full age and has done fealty and paid 40s. in the hanaper for respite of homage, and orders security for relief to be taken from him and the manors to be delivered to him [CFR 1413-22, p. 311].
