The manors of Haygrove and Odcombe are held of the king in socage by a rent of 1d. payable at Michaelmas. The lordship or borough of Bridgwater with the court of the hundred, fairs, markets and other liberties is held of the king in free burgage. William le Zouche held in his demesne as of fee 2 parts of the manor of Haygrove, 1 part of the king in socage, the other of Thomas de Berkeley at fee farm, and a 6th part of the manor of Odcombe of the king in socage. By letters patent dated at Harringworth on 13 Sept. 1409 he granted Robert Bank the office of bailiff of Haygrove with a daily allowance of 2d., and a robe or 10s. and 6s.8d. for boots yearly. The annual value of Haygrove beyond the 1d, and robe etc. is £10, payable by equal parts at the 4 principal terms. That of the 6th part of Odcombe is 33s.4d. similarly payable. He also held 2 parts of the borough of Bridgwater in his demesne in fee simple, 1 part of the king in free burgage, the other of Thomas de Berkeley , rendering £10 yearly to Thomas at Candlemas for the parts of Haygrove and Bridgwater. In Bridgwater he took 12d. from each burgage tenure at Michaelmas, 6d. from each half burgage, and so forth in proportion. By other letters patent of the same date as above he granted Thomas Foot, formerly bailiff of Bridgwater , a rent of 40s. from it for life. The annual value of the 2 parts beyond this rent is £10 payable by equal parts as above.
