                  <ab>It is found in the rolls of account of Thomas Caus of Hocham, escheator, from 11 Nov. 1371 to 10 Dec. 1372, that he took the manor of <name type="manor" key="2734471">Burnham</name><!-- Brunham; CIPM 13.85, manor of Polsted Hall in Burnham Westgate --> into the king’s hand, late of Ralph de Hempnale, knight, by a writ of 16 Dec. 1371 from the Chancery of which there is a transcript delivered on the account, in which it is stated that Ralph held the manor of the king of the honour of <name type="honour" key="1745589">Dover</name><!--Douorr’--> and alienated it to certain persons in fee without royal licence, and the manor is extended <hi rend="italic">particulariter</hi> at £13 17d as is stated in an inquisition before the escheator similarly delivered on his account.</ab>
