The jurors know this for the following reasons: Richard Beaumond , aged 44 years and more: his daughter Alice married Thomas atte Style on that day. John Ranyle , 44 years and more, had a son William baptised there that day. John Kentysshe and Thomas Swag , each 52 and more, were godfathers of Thomas son of William Bernham who was baptised in that church on that day. Peter Fay and Andrew Halle , each 48 and more, set out on a pilgrimage to St. Thomas of Canterbury on that day. John Bernard, senior , and John Bernard, junior , each 44 and more: their brother William set out for the Holy Land on the morrow of the baptism and died on the journey. Stephen Tayllour and John Barrer , each 48 and more: on that day the king’s French enemies burnt Portsmouth near Drayton and the king’s bailiff warned them to be ready to resist. John Byket and John Cornwayle , each 50 and more, were at the church before the baptism, and saw the suffragan bishop of Winchester reconsecrate it after the effusion of blood and pollution.
