Holdings
He was seised of the following in demesne as of fee. By deed sealed with the seal of his arms, shown to the jurors, he granted the same to John Hampton, esquire , William Purferey, esquire , Simon Melborn, rector of the church of Grendon , and Robert Whitgreve of Stafford, ‘gentilman’, and their heirs and assigns. In the deed the ½ manor was described as the manor of Grendon with the advowson of the church. The other premises were described as his other lands and tenements in Dordon and Warton. John and the others were seised in demesne as of fee. By indented charter dated 28 June 1442, they granted the same among other things to Philip and Joan, then his wife, who survives, and the heirs male of their bodies, with remainder to the right heirs of Philip. In the charter the grantors were described as John Hampton , William Purfrey , Robert Whitgreve, esquire , and Simon Melborn, parson of the church of Grendon . The premises were described as a moiety of the manor of Grendon called ‘Chetwynd maner’, with the advowson of the church of the manor, and all their lands, tenements, rents, reversions, and services in Grendon, Dordon, and Warton and elsewhere in the county. Philip and Joan were seised in demesne as of fee in the above form of entail, and Philip died seised of such estate.
Grendon, ½ manor called ‘Chetwynd maner’, with the advowson of the church of Grendon, pertaining to the moiety, held not of the king but of John Stanley, esquire , of the manor of Clifton Campville, by knight service.
Dordon, 10 messuages, 5 tofts, 280 a. land, 50 a. meadow, and 300 a. wood; and
Warton, a moiety of 4 messuages, of 200 a. land, and of 40 a. meadow,
held of Thomas Ferrers, esquire , of the manor and lordship of Stipershill, in socage, by 12d. yearly. The ½ manor, lands, and tenements are worth 20 marks yearly.

He died on 10 May 1444. John Chetwynd of Meriden is his kin and next heir, as the brother of Richard, the father of Philip, and is aged 50 and more.
